Snetterton ‘25

Round 1 of the Official Caterham Championship saw the team to Snetterton where they were blessed with 4 days of sun. The drivers split between the 310 and 270 championships, both groups providing nail biting races across the weekend. Charlie Lower and Duncan Mallet both saw podium in 310 and Lyonel Tollemache snatched a P2 in 270.

The team had their share of late nights and tense moments, coming together to make sure their drivers made it on track. Thursday evening saw late night gearbox changes and a new rear construction before the racing had started. They rolled on into the weekend smoothly, fuelled with a sunset team BBQ on Friday night. Saturday brought its own share of tense moments with Django’s brakes failed entering assembly, leaving the team just 12 minutes to find the issue and get it fixed. The issue came down to a faulty brake calliper, with less than a minute to spare the team got the part replaced and Django was able to race from assembly. This was a massive moment for the team, with the technicians keeping calm under immense pressure ensuring their driver made it on track safety.

The weekend was a massive success for the teams first outing this season, some amazing drives across the board, and a couple of trophy’s to show for it. The weekend couldn’t have run as it did without the very thorough, very skilled, two man car clean crew,  Fred and Harry. Ensuring the boys looked their best out on the track.  The weekend was finished off with cake to celebrate yet another year of the skipper, Giles Perry, Happy 21st.
